Drama Stars Academy has a successful performance history of over 25 years and is one of the most popular Speech and Drama Academies in Canberra. DSA was originally established in 2000 in Melbourne and later moved to Canberra in 2008.
At Drama Stars Academy our teachers believe everyone has untapped potential and it takes the right positive environment, nurturing and encouragement for them to SHINE to their full potential. We offer what every kid, teen, adult and aspiring actor wants and needs.
Drama is more than just reading scripts and rehearsing lines. At Drama Stars Academy there are no administration fees and you can enrol on a term by term basis.

What may this class cover? – Drama/acting, speech, improvisation, script reading, script writing, use of props/costumes, set design, character development, prompt training and learning to give and receive constructive feedback plus a host of other skills
What should I bring to class? – A water bottle and a positive attitude!
What should I wear to class? – Wear something comfortable that you can create, play and move in freely. Those that choose to wear skirts, must wear leggings/shorts underneath

What may this class cover? – A wide range of social and emotional skills in different settings through Drama/acting, speech, improvisation. We teach our students to follow instructions quickly, have resilience, be patient, to regulate their emotions and read social cues and a host of other important life attributes. Why enrol into this class? – You will gain: Social and emotional skills, patient turn taking, respecting others personal bubbles, understanding diversity, active listening to others before answer, skills to learn to accept positive and constructive feedback, positively uplift people and communicate in a calm manner, how to find and keep friends, how to read the body language of others, being time aware and being more flexible with changes/transitions, respecting teachers and others in authority, graciously winning and not winning games, how to start a conversation, learning to compromise, deal with anxiety and learning how to be more empathetic. Parallel to this, you will gain confidence, creativity, fun, friends, voice projection, memory, focus, leadership skills, concentration, organisational skills, public speaking skills, life skills, opportunities for the future and a host of other skills/qualities.

What does this class cover? – We integrate our speech and drama teaching to match the school curriculum. We offer a pre and post evaluation to all students to provide evidence of student learning. This is a highly successful tool which is well received by many schools. Our program has aligned effectively with many different schools and we are open to modify our program to match with the individual learning styles. We take a holistic approach to our teaching and embed self-discipline into our program. Students will learn drama/acting, speech, improvisation and public speaking. Students will script reading, script writing, school curriculum, use of props/costumes, set design, character development, prompt training and learning to give and receive constructive feedback plus a host of other skills. Donna takes a holistic approach and does a thorough assessment to find the learning gaps and fill them in with creative, fun, uplifting and unique strategies. With 25 years of teaching in the classroom and years of being a University tutor, Donna has the knowledge and skills to change the way a student thinks to open the doors to fast, efficient learning.
